Back in 2000 if I had trouble with a product I would complain to the company and they would brush me off, because the people I could give negative feedback to was limited to 10-15 close friends. Not anymore, I'm connected to thousands and thousands thanks to social media. Pissing me off is like pissing of a journalist from say 'Chicago Tribune' in the old days.
No wonder the companies are forced to take notice of the small guy.... 'cos he's not small anymore. Time magazine was absolutely 100% right in making "You" the person of the year in 2006.
